Rent a Car in Tivat

Tivat is the front door to the Montenegrin coast. Its airport (TIV) is the busiest summer gateway on the Bay of Kotor, and most people land here for a beach holiday rather than for Tivat itself. The town has the glossy Porto Montenegro marina and a pleasant seafront promenade, but the real draw is everything within easy reach: Kotor and its walled old town sit about 8 km round the bay, Perast and its two island churches are a short drive further on, and Budva's beaches and nightlife are roughly half an hour south over the Vrmac ridge.

Public transport here is thin. Buses link the main coastal towns, but they don't run to the quiet coves of the Luštica peninsula, the viewpoint at the top of the Kotor–Lovćen serpentines, or the beaches at Žanjic and Plavi Horizonti. Taxis add up fast over a week. With your own car you can chase a swim in the morning, lunch in Perast and watch the sunset in Budva — and reach the corners of the bay that no timetable bothers with. For a week's stay, car hire almost always works out cheaper and freer than chaining together taxis and day tours.
