Rent a Car in Cannes

Cannes itself — La Croisette, the old town of Le Suquet, the Palais des Festivals — is compact and entirely walkable, and a car adds little for simply getting around. The reason to hire a car in Cannes is what's within easy reach: Grasse, the perfume capital, is about 20 minutes inland, the hilltop village of Mougins is roughly 15 minutes away, and Antibes with its old town and Cap d'Antibes is 15-20 minutes east. West of Cannes, the Corniche de l'Estérel toward Théoule-sur-Mer is one of the most scenic coastal drives on the Riviera, winding past the red volcanic cliffs of the Estérel massif.

Further east, Nice and Monaco are 30-45 minutes away if you want to extend the trip along the coast. The Îles de Lérins — Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat — are visible just offshore but reached only by boat from the Vieux Port, not by car. None of Grasse, Mougins, Antibes and the Estérel connect well by combining bus routes in a single day, so most visitors renting a car in Cannes do it for these day trips, not for moving around the city itself.
