Rent a Car in Batumi

Batumi itself is walkable — the boulevard, the old town and the beach all sit within a stroll — but the best of Adjara starts where the buses stop. With your own car you can drive the 25 km up to Mtirala National Park for its rainforest waterfalls, follow the Machakhela valley past its old arched stone bridges, or run south to the Sarpi border beach in under 40 minutes. Marshrutka minibuses cover the main routes cheaply, but they leave when full, skip the smaller villages and turn a flexible day of stops into a waiting game.

A car also unlocks the wider country. Kutaisi is roughly two hours north and Tbilisi around five to six hours along the coast and then inland, so many travellers collect a car in Batumi and drop it elsewhere on a one-way trip. If you are touring the whole region, it is worth comparing rates for Georgia as a whole and for Kutaisi before you commit to a single pickup point.
