What to know before you drive from Costa Adeje

  • TF-1 is your main artery. The south motorway connects Costa Adeje to Santa Cruz in the east and to the El Médano area in the south. It's free, fast and well signposted. Most Tenerife driving starts here.
  • Teide needs an early start. The road to El Teide from the south takes about 50–60 minutes. Go before 9 a.m. to beat the coaches and find parking at the parador. The summit cable car sells out — book online before you go.
  • Masca road is narrow. The descent into Masca village involves tight hairpins and passing oncoming traffic in places. Avoid large cars and allow double your sat-nav estimate for this route.
  • Parking in the resort. Costa Adeje town centre and the Playa del Duque area have paid parking. Many hotels include a car park — check before booking if you plan to keep a car for the whole stay.
