Rent a Car in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City itself is compact and walkable, but almost everything that draws visitors here sits well outside the city limits. The resorts of Park City, Alta, Snowbird and Brighton are 30–45 minutes up Cottonwood Canyon or over to Park City — no public transit reaches most of them directly with luggage and ski gear. A hire car, ideally with all-wheel drive in winter, is the standard way in.

Salt Lake is also the natural starting point for a Utah national parks road trip. Zion is about 4.5 hours south, Moab and Arches roughly 4 hours south-east, and Bryce Canyon around 4 hours — all comfortably reachable as multi-day loops if you're combining the city with Utah's canyon country. For a ski trip, a summer hiking trip or a national parks itinerary, this is one destination where the hire car does double duty as both local transport and long-distance transport.
